EDA Drinks & Wine Campus continues to take firm steps towards setting up a university centre for training in liquid gastronomy. 2024 has been a year full of milestones for this educational project emanating from the prestigious Basque Culinary Center under the direction of Elisa Ucar.

At the beginning of the year they launched the competition to design the Vitoria-Gasteiz and Laguardia headquarters, the work of which has already been awarded to the Portuguese architecture studio Carvalho Araújo. In July, the Encuentro Jovenes Talentos del Vino was held in Samaniego, bringing together more than 80 winemakers. In June, the campus presented its Wineries Council, and in September it held the EDA Beer Summit, a meeting of professionals from the beer sector.

The end of the year saw numerous milestones, such as the presentation of the Expert Committee, the announcement of the agreement with WSET – Wine & Spirit Education Trust to provide its qualified training, and the holding of the third Encuentro Jovenes Talentos del Vino in the Penedes region.

In December, EDA Drinks & Wine Campus offered the first course on cider to professionals in the sector in collaboration with the DO Euskal Sagardoa. The training was given by Haritz Rodriguez, the first certified cider pommelier or sommelier in Spain, and represents another step forward in the prominence that this campus wants to offer in its syllabus to a product with such local roots as Basque cider.
