For a long time in the Basque Country, Astigarraga has been a symbol of cider and cider houses.

To put ourselves in the history of cider houses, at the beginning of the 20th century, there were the following cider houses in Astigarraga: Taula, Elionea, Portutxo, Borda, Etxabe, Gaztañaga, Emeterio Lizarralde, Anibar-Mendiluze, Langaenea-Urreaga, Arrizabalaga, Mina Beltzane, Jose Beltzane, Desierto, Martin Berrondo, Izaskun Arruabarrena, Goikoetxea, Txalaka and Bordaberri. In Ergobia, one of the most important neighbourhoods in Astigarraga, there were many cider houses that have now disappeared: Pagua, Otaño, Krixpin Lete, Ajuria, Ramon Isasa, Herrero, Bereziartua, Alberro, Joakinene, Ramon Isasa, Estanco-Aristi and Pagua-Martin Berrondo.

Today, the cider houses in Astigarraga are: Alorrenea, Artola, Astarbe, Bereziartua, Etxeberria, Gartziategi, Gurutzeta, Iretza, Irigoien, Ipintza, Larrarte, Lizeaga, Mendizabal, Mina, Oialume Zar, Oiarbide, Petritegi, Rezola, Sarasola and Zapiain.
